When explorer Patrick Michael Sullivan disappeared into the barren hills of Mongolia, the world took little notice. With a raging global conflict, what kind of man would pursue an obscure archeological find?  What had been found that was worth so much blood?   Fragments of letters, small damaged relics, and clusters of death were the only clues.  Patrick himself had vanished, swept aside by the Mongolian winds.

Eight decades later, his great-grandson, Jack Sullivan picks up the gauntlet and attempts to solve those mysteries.  Following in Patrick's footsteps is a decision that puts him squarely in the crosshairs of unforeseen enemies.  Challenged by a spiraling inner conflict and an unlikely romance, Jack latches onto a scientific expedition that wants no part of him.  As the scope of the quest mounts, he learns that what he's seeking is just the tip of the spear.
